How to choose quality Natural Stones?
The choice of natural stones is the fundamental act of this creative process. You can choose stones according to their color, texture and or meanings. This will make your jewelry not only beautiful but also personal. Whether you are drawn to the soothing amethyst or the energizing carnelian, listen first your intuition.
At Perles Corner we select quality stones and offer you a large choice of pearls so that your creations are as beautiful as in your imagination!
You can find all our natural stones directly on the website and in our Paris store.
How do you know if a stone is really natural?
Gemstones carry a millennia-old story, each telling a tale of the land from which it came. In a world where jewelry comes in all shapes and materials, knowing how to distinguish a natural stone from an imitation is a valuable and essential skill to ensure the quality of your creations. For jewelry designers, collectors, and the curious, recognizing the authenticity of a stone is essential. Here are some tips to guide you.
- Touch the stone. Natural stones tend to be cooler to the touch than plastic or glass imitations.Even though they warm up with human contact, they stay cool longer.
- Observe the stone in the light. Natural stones often have inclusions or color variations, signs of their geological formation. These imperfections can be an indicator of authenticity, unlike imitations which often have a too perfect and uniform appearance.
- Price, a stone that is too cheap can be an indicator of poor quality.
There are many other ways, but don't hesitate to ask the seller too.
At Perles Corner, we are passionate about stones, we even have a person graduate in Gemmology who sources and selects all our stones in order to offer you quality stones.
Assembling the choker necklace
With all your beads in hand, it's time to start assembling.
First, tie a knot with the thread on the pendant ring. Tie a tight knot to secure the assembly.
Now string the beads one by one, alternating between natural stones and gold beads to create rhythm and visual harmony. Take the time to experiment with the order until you find the perfect balance.
Then continue with the 2mm faceted beads. To do this, undo them in batches of 4/5 beads, it will be easier to thread them onto the needle.
How to Tie a Knot on a Pearl Necklace
The finish of your necklace is as important as its beginning.
The positioning of the knot at the edge of the clasp is essential for the durability of your jewelry but it is also the most delicate step!
There is nothing more annoying than finishing your beading and messing up the clasp. A necklace that is too tight will be stiff and uncomfortable. Too loose, the beads will move and the thread will be visible.
Here's a tip that will allow you to tie a knot perfectly in the right place and super easily!
Tie a simple knot to connect the clasp to the wire. Hold the clasp and then pull the wire to bring it as close as possible to the beads.
Now stick a needle into the knot between the beads and the clasp.
Tie the last knot normally. It will naturally fit around the needle.
Remove the needle and then tighten the knot securely.
To secure your assembly, I advise you to place a small amount of glue on the knots.
Creating your own natural stone necklace is an enriching adventure that results in a piece of jewelry as unique as you are.
What a pleasure to see the result! It is an expression of creativity, an exercise in patience and a real personal satisfaction.
With these steps and tips, you are now ready to make a refined necklace, ideal for adding an elegant touch to your end-of-year outfits or to offer as a gift to someone important to you.
Great achievement!
