Tubular Herringbone weave Page 2

Herringbone = Chevrons is a weaving technique that consists of placing 2 beads at the same time... naturally they will be placed in a chevron pattern. You will thus form a pretty tube, flexible like a string of beads...

It is a fairly simple weave that can be used to create necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc.

This technique is used with Miyuki Délica beads, Rocailles, in 11/0 and 15/0, in cubes... Each bead will give a different finish and appearance!

To your pearls!

For this achievement you need:
Pearls to choose from Weaving thread A beading needle A pearl carpet

Making the first row:

To begin, thread 4 beads onto the needle.

Then go back through the first 2 beads.

Naturally the pearls are placed in a square.

Then go back through the last 2 beads.

Thread 2 new beads then go back through the 2 previous beads before going back through the last 2 beads threaded.

Continue like this until you have placed all the beads...

You can make a tube of at least 4 beads for a thin tube (like in the photo of the necklace above) or increase the size of the tube by adding beads.

You should end up with an even number of pearls!

To facilitate reading, we alternated 2 colors. Here the row starts with 4 turquoise beads and ends with 4 pink beads.

Production of the tube:

Once the correct size is achieved, close the tube...

Bring the first 2 beads (turquoise) towards the last 2 (pink).

Pass the needle through the first 2 beads then pass it through the last ones again.

You will thus form a loop in the beads which will block the tube.

Make the next row...

Thread 2 beads, then pass the needle through the right bead of the row below.

Pull up into the bead next to it. Tighten the wire tightly.

Thread 2 new beads then repeat the operation to block them.

You will see that the beads are placed in a chevron pattern. This is normal, do not try to position them straight. Let them place themselves naturally.

Continue assembly until desired length is reached.

If you need to make a connection:

Stop the weaving thread by starting again in the beads below. Choose a line of aligned beads then make a knot by passing between 2 beads then passing back through the loop created. Tighten well then cut the thread.

To restart a new thread, pass through a row of beads then pass between 2 beads, form a loop, pass the needle through the loop again then tighten correctly.

Go back through a row of beads and repeat for added security.

Go back up a row of vertical beads to come out in the correct bead.
