Guide - Prepare your creation

In this article we give you some  key points  to address before bringing your creation to life.

To do list  of creation:

Writing a few words as a specification can help you bring your creative project to life and identify strengths and weaknesses where you will need to investigate further.
Take this little moment to put words to it, define your priorities and thus facilitate the development of your future creation...

Your inspiration?

What is the trigger for your creation? Analyze the starting point to refocus on the essentials and get straight to the point without getting scattered and losing the soul of your project.
A material, a shape, a person, a film, a painting or even a technique... Imagine that you are creating for a specific person (a friend, a celebrity, yourself...) can help you to project yourself.

What type of jewelry?

Necklace, Earrings, Flexible or rigid bracelet, Ring, Choker, Brooch...

Small series of jewelry to sell, a unique piece for you or to start a collection.

Desired atmosphere and style, ethnic, minimalist, contemporary, bohemian, romantic, graphic, floral....

What technique will be used?

What are the most appropriate techniques for your project? Weaving, assembly, braiding... Can this influence the shape or the realization of your project?

Does this require special assembly, essential steps that must not be missed to begin the rest of the assembly, special tools, the time needed to complete it, etc.

Taking the time to think about the assembly can help you build the project. It allows you to visualize the necessary elements, the methodology, the feasibility, the problems to be overcome... This little time for reflection can save you a lot later.

Why this creation?

An order, a piece from a new collection, just to please yourself. It is important to know before starting a piece whether it will be for sale or for personal use. If it is to be reproduced in several copies, you will not necessarily use the same assembly technique and/or the same materials...

What materials?

Beads, threads, common or precious metal, ceramics... Natural or synthetic materials, leather, semi-precious stones, glass beads... Fabrics, cords, wood, plexi-acrylic...

The budget?

It is very important to define your budget. This will allow you to know which elements will be used and the type of assembly needed for the achievement.

If this project is a commission, calculate carefully the prices of your raw materials in relation to the sale price and your working time, which very often will not be fully paid. A creative project takes time and the realization can take longer than initially imagined.

Your budget will be defined by the type of pieces made and the sale price. Pieces made of precious metals or with more noble materials will have a higher sale price which will be able to better cover the work time.

All of this is thought through well in advance so that there is consistency between the purchase price, the working time, the cost of packaging and communication and the sale price.

A less common piece, with a special technique, or very in tune with fashion and trends will be able to sell better and more easily.

Time needed for completion?

This will inevitably have an impact on the complexity of the project and on its sale price.

It is very important to estimate it in advance, especially in the case of parts to be reproduced in series.
