Odd Peyote weaving

Do you want to start peyote weaving?
With this tutorial learn how to make odd Peyote weaves, ideal for bracelets, pendants and other Miyuki bead creations.
If you are a beginner, we advise you to start by mastering Peyote Pair, which is easier to understand the method.
Here we go!

For this  technique you need:

of the  Miyuki delica beads
a needle
nylon thread

Step 1:

To begin, cut a piece of nylon thread and thread it onto a beading needle.

Then thread an odd number of beads, leaving some thread at the start for  finish weaving.

Step 2:

Then thread a new bead to start the second row.

Pass through the penultimate bead of the first row then thread a new bead.

Follow the diagram to see the wire path.

As you go along, you simply place a bead in the hollows of the previous row.

Step 3:

Then thread the last bead in the row and pass it through the bead below.

Step 4:

Bring the needle up through the beads diagonally as shown in the diagram.

Step 5:

Then go through the pearl below...

Step 6:

As shown in the diagram, come out in the last bead of the previous row...

Step 7:

Finally, go back through the top bead and thread the following beads as in step 2.

Continue weaving following the previous steps.

And there you have it! Beautiful creations!

What if I need to extend my wire?

If your yarn is too short to complete the weaving, be sure to first  keep about 15cm of wire. Then pass the wire through the previous beads following a path that can go diagonally to jump from one row to another.

Thread a new thread then go back through the previous rows diagonally to block the new thread and come out where you left off.

How to finish weaving?

In Peyote there is no knot to start or finish the weaving. To finish the weaving, go back through the previous beads and rows in several directions so that the thread blocks the beads.

Do the same with the starting wire.

Then to finish, you can either glue your weaving on a rigid cuff or on a leather strip or place a weaving clasp. To do this, you will have to make a new row to adapt it to the clasp.

And there you have it!
